This recent article from the Singapore Straits Times highlighted an increase in the incidence in Breast & Prostate cancers within the more effluent society - living longer and leading more sedentary (& overweight) lifestyles.
The Cancer screening programme in Singapore for Cervical (with regular PAP smears), Breast (regular mammography/ultrasound) and Colorectal (with stool occult blood) can help in early detection of these cancers and better treatment chances if detected early. If you are aged 40 or over, you may benefit from screening for these common cancers. At Katong Family Clinic we will be happy to advise you with screening recommendations based on your personal risk factors and medical history.

It's a great thing that Singapore Straits Times has published a new data regarding the recent status of breast and prostate cancer in the country. The number is starting to be alarming and I am just sad to see that many people are falling with this kind of diseases which could have been avoided if we chose a healthy lifestyle. Well, it's also a hereditary kind of disease but our lifestyle is also a huge factor why we develop a certain form of disease. I hope that these problems will be solved and more people will practice healthy lifestyle!
